Back again...without the kids :)

It was over a year ago when I stayed with my children. This time the visit was, well let's just say more grown up. My bestfriend over 24 years came out West to celebrate a "milestone" birthday and I suggested this resort. Once again it was perfect! From the most amazing ocean view, the food, the people, the cleanliness....did I mention the view and food! We couldn't of asked for a more perfect three days! We have decided every year is a milestone now and will visit once a year :)

RELAXING WITH THE KIDS?!

It was a last minute decision to bring three of my kids to Parksville for a mini vacation. My husband had a meeting in Parksville then he needed to return the same day back to Victoria. The kids didn't have any camps during this week and were starting to bounce off the walls. So I decided to pack the kids and myself up; have my husband drop us off at the doors of Quality Inn Bayside Resort. I would have no car for three days and three children...hmmm, was I chancing my sanity?! It started with the two younger ones; the boy and the younger girl running their luggage into one another, blaming each other on "who did it first". I looked out to see the tail lights of our vehicle and my husband pulling away. But then a cheerful "hello" came from the front desk clerk. Wonderful, quick, pleasant and calming. We checked into our adjoining rooms, the two girls taking one room with the two queen beds. My son and I with one queen bed and a queen size pullout. You know some places how you can just feel the cleanliness...this was seriously one of the best I have ever been to! The youngest was unpacking and organizing her stuff in the drawer, the two older ones were "chilling" out on their claimed spaces. What was this? No fighting, no "can we go and do something" or "I am bored" every two seconds! Taking in this moment...I smiled and breathed. Our room was clean and comfortable. It is not a high end hotel but you can see and feel that they take pride in their rooms. For the rate, amazing! The one thing I found out is you really don't spend too much time in the room! Only for crashing hard and cleaning up. The location is perfect and breathtaking. The days pretty well went like this: wake up the kids (yes I do mean that, because they are so tired from the daily activities), eat a yummy breakfast (that's included in rate) in the ocean view restaurant called the Bayside Bistro. The Resort has beach access! First part of the beach we would walk over or hop on the rocks looking at the small crabs...just exploring the ocean life. Making our way to the smooth sand and squishing our toes into it. When the tide is out you can walk forever out to the ocean, it really is quite the sight to see! The town has put a new boardwalk along part of the beach. It really gives off those happy childhood memories; of the family vacation spots I use to go to. At the end of the boardwalk is a large playground. So my older daughter (14 year old) and I would plant ourselves on the blanket, with our books and music. The two younger ones 11 and 12 year olds played forever at the park. You can be on the beach keeping an eye on them and enjoy the view of the ocean!!!!!! We would be there pretty much all day. After a day outside breathing in the ocean air, we would make our way back to the Resort. Clean up and go down to the Bistro for dinner. As my daughter would put it "OMG" the meals and service were unbelievable! My kids would clean off their plates...even the vegetables! Each night I tried a different meal and a different wine...each night was delicious and I was in sheer bliss! The view from the restaurant and the oceanside rooms, absolutely heavenly. A bit after dinner the kids would go for a swim in the indoor pool and I read my book out on the swing by the ocean...aaaaahh. Two of the mornings the three kids would go next door to play mini golf, go on the water bumper boats and games room. As I sat and realized I had at least 2-3 hours to do whatever I wanted! So yes I will be back and seriously relaxing again! Thank you Quality Inn Bayside Resort for a beautiful vacation for my kids and I!

My family stayed at your lovely hotel on Friday, July 16th. I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the room, beautiful dining room and friendly staff. The rate was attractive for a family travelling on a budget and having breakfast included was the icing on the cake! The kids had so much fun swimming, skim boarding, golf, visiting Coombs and many more activities. I am telling everyone I know of the lovely accommodations and fantastic staff.
